We have updated the CPUX-F Curriculum

The previous version of the CPUX-F Curriculum has remained unchanged for a little over three years. Over the last 18 months, the UXQB’s CPUX-F working group has developed an improved, up-to-date version of the curriculum, based on the analysis of thousands of certifications, feedback from international training providers and insight from industry experts.

Version 4.01 of the CPUX-F curriculum introduces seven new terms and definitions – including “human-centred quality”, “ethical design”, “sustainable design” and “interaction principles” (which replaces the outgoing “dialogue principles”, following the recent update to ISO 9241-110) – along with significant updates and extensions to many existing terms and lots of new examples to help bring the curriculum to life. To keep the curriculum to a manageable size, twelve terms – considered by the working group to be less important than the additions – have been removed.

A full list of the changes is available in “Appendix A – Important changes to this document” of the CPUX-F curriculum v4.01. The publicly available set of 40 test questions has also been revised to reflect the content of the new curriculum.

Delegates are able to study and take the CPUX-F exam for either version 3.16 or version 4.01 of the curriculum (at the discretion of the training provider) up to 31 March 2023, at which point all CPUX-F examinations will be based on version 4.01.

The CPUX-F curriculum v4.01, along with the updated test questions, has now been published and can be found in the documents section of the UXQB website.

Learnings from 100+ reviews of Usability Tests

The Advanced Level Certification for Usability Testing (CPUX-UT) has now been in existence for over eight years. The curriculum has been refined over the years. Based on more than 100 usability tests conducted during the practical examination, Rolf Molich, Bernard Rummel and Susanne Waßerroth have now summarized their findings as examiners and published them in an article in UXPA Magazine.

New Curriculum “Essentials in UX and HCD Management” (CPUX-M)

Our new curriculum “Essentials in UX and HCD Management” (CPUX-M) has been technically finalized. This curriculum focusses on the following subjects:

  • The challenges of HCD management
  • Business terms that every UX professional should know
  • UX and HCD management and leadership
  • Crafting and driving UX vision
  • Creating a shared HCD culture
  • HCD maturity
  • Boosting HCD maturity
  • Measuring the business value of HCD activities
  • Risk management
  • Ethical design and sustainable design

The curriculum is supposed to be taught within a one-day-course. The examination for CPUX-M consists of 40 multiple-choice questions as in all of our multiple-choice examinations. Candidates will not need to hold a CPUX-F certificate for taking the examination for CPUX-M. The Examination Regulations for CPUX-F also apply for CPUX-M.

We will now start the translation of the curriculum into German. Also, the secret and public test questions need to be created and evaluated. The English version of the CPUX-M curriculum is already available for download. The German version of the curriculum will be available latest by September 30, 2022. The public exam questions will be published on the UXQB website latest by August 31, 2022.
